What is Geographic Information (GI)?

Geographic Information is information; that can be related to a particular location (defined in terms of points, area or volume) on the Earth, particularly information on natural phenomena, cultural and human resources”.

UK Government holds large amounts of geographic information which departments and agencies collect, analyze and store. Geographic Information enables Government to improve its business by increasing efficiency; improving decision making and communication with citizens.
